Meta Monster
| Status: Freeware |
Format: Win 9X/ME/XP |
| Size: 227KB |
Version: 1.1 Beta |
| Meta Monster is a handy little utility that will create "Meta Tags" for your web pages. Most of today's high powered search engines use "spiders" to roam the net looking for information in your meta tags. If you don't use them, you're missing out on the a great way to freely publicize your website. |
| Using Meta Monster |
| Simply fill out the information about your site in the proper spots, then click on the button labeled "Copy to Clipboard". Meta Monster will generate your meta tags and place them on your clipboard. From there you can just open your html page in a text editor and paste the tags in. |
| Clipboard?!? |
| I had a friend of mine say to me but I don't have "clipboard" installed on my system. I had to inform him that the "clipboard" I'm referring to is the little piece of memory that Window's uses to hold data. He was referring to the "Clipboard Viewer" which is a utility on the Win 9X/NT CD-ROM.. Trust me when I say this.. if you have ever cut and pasted before.. you have a clipboard... |
| Paste them where?!? |
I knew this question would be here.. I asked the same thing when I first started to use Meta Tags. When you open an HTML file you'll see something similar to this:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>
Paul's House of Beef Jerky
</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
ETC...
You should paste your meta tags between your </TITLE> and your </HEAD> tags. Some people prefer to put them before the title.. the option is yours. But the Meta Tags MUST reside in the "HEAD" section of your page or the search engines won't find them. |
| Limitations? |
| This, the current version of Meta Monster does not create an html file with the tags in it, nor does it allow you to choose which html file you'll insert them into.. You must do this on your own. Sorry.. |
