Spoken:1
This is the story of a good friend of mine named Johnny Blue,
and now he's somewhere in Heaven.

Verse:1
Johnny, Johnny Blue
where in heaven are you
(you) used to sit and cry at night
wishing that you'd do something right
Johnny, Oh Johnny
where in heaven are you.

Chorus:
Your friends and family
miss you Johnny Blue
I have got to go now but,
I'll see you soon.

Verse:2
Sometimes I see your wife
and your son is with her
what am I supposed to say
when he asks about you
Johnny, Oh Johnny
where in heaven are you.

(Chorus)

Verse:3
Johnny, Johnny Blue
where in heaven are you.
Sometimes I go out to the bar
an' they ask me where you are
I can't say that you're gone
so you've just moved on.

(Chorus)

Spoken:2
Well, like with everything else in life, time passes on, John Jr. is older,
and my grey hair is falling out. An' I know my time is coming.

Verse:4
Your boy is now a man
with a son of his own
since your wife
is there with you
I know I'm coming soon.
Do me a big favor
put in a good word.

Reprise:
Your friends and family
miss you Johnny Blue
I have got to go
but I'll be there soon...
